Yesterday we held our second vigil of the month at Newman’s, they were not anticipating seeing us back so soon. We saw a total of 13 trucks and trailers carrying, Sheep, Pigs & Cows. One lonely sheep penned into the trailer where she was unable to turn around. We saw Mangalitsa Pigs, all so affectionate and curious.
During our last vigil, we were met with some of the worst verbal abuse we have ever encountered by one farmer who also drove very dangerously at one of our activists. During this vigil, the same farmer arrived and behaved in much the same way and this time his driving only deteriorated more, we walked the truck most of the way but with concerns of stressing out the poor innocent sheep in the back, we decided to allow him to drive the rest of the way to the gate.
Look very closely, these are the faces of some animals driven to their deaths yesterday. If you look into their delicate eyes you see a soul and an individual character, an inquisitive being that has done nothing to deserve such maltreatment and abuse.
Ask yourself why do you feel more superior to them, what makes your life more important than theirs.
There is a simple remedy to end their suffering, stop buying their body parts and secretions, with so many incredible choices there is no excuse to eat an animal that didn’t want to die.
