Rescued chickens now thriving in their forever home

Writer's picture: SuziSuzi

Back in February 2020 during our vigil honouring the life and death of Jill Phipps who was tragically crushed to death under the wheels of a lorry whilst trying to stop the live exports of calves from Coventry airport on the 1st February 1995. Two roosters arrived in the back of a car, Jill was definitely with us that day. We managed to negotiate the release of the two chickens.

Both were extremely thin, very timid, and not used to human interaction or contact. Both Sargent and Newman are now thriving in their new forever home along with a brood of hens, both of them have definitely filled out and grown in confidence since we last saw them.

Newman and Sargent's human companion have sent us a video of the boys with their brood of hens.

I’m sure we can all look forward to seeing lots of updates on how they get on.
